The First Step in planning for next session is to eliminate big associations from
lobbying with our taxpayer dollars.  We have taken the first step in this process. Our
attorneys, are David Rogers and former Supreme Court Justice Steven Wayne Smith of
the Texas Legal Foundation. They have sent public information requests to 38 counties
and our members have also submitted letters to the county attorney asking them to
investigate lobbying with tax dollars.

We held a press conference on 6/2/05 to announce the lawsuit and the special interests
and liberal media are doing their best to discredit us.

Would you like to ask your county attorney to investigate your county to see if your tax
dollars are being used to lobby against property tax reform and truth in taxation?
 Contact
us for more information.

The Second Step get organized locally.  If we do have a special session or if
we just have a regular session, we have to impress upon lawmakers that taxpayers should
be the big lobby since we are the ones who pay the bills.  We have to continue to expose
lobbying with tax dollars, get on radio talk shows and prepare for the debate whenever
session is called.

        What can we do now?
1) Send a letter to your county or district attorney and ask them to investigate big local
lobbies using tax dollars to get more tax dollars (it's illegal - but they do it anyway).  Here
is a
sample letter written by our attorneys.  All you have to do is fill in your county
attorney or district attorney's name, sign and send it! Please
let us know if you do.

2) Send a public information request to your county clerk or county auditor asking for
budget information showing dues paid by associations and lobbyists hired by associations.

3)  Contact us for information on press in your town and how to hold a press conference.
Our Press Conference was held in the Speaker's Press Conference Room.  See Pictures
Below.  Click to enlarge photos.

4) Write a letter to your editor using the example of special interest lies to cheat taxpayers!

5) Contact your legislators NOW and tell them that you want taxpayer protections and
taxpayer RELIEF in the next legislative session.  Tell them you expect them to listen to the
people who pay the bills - TAXPAYERS and NOT big lobbyists for special interests.

6) Join the Coalition for Property Tax Reform  The Third Step is to take
Austin by storm in the next legislative session.  We must be educated and ready.

Steps to Property Tax Relief

The 79th Legislative Session just ended with a bang.

That bang was the death blow to legislation for truth in taxation or a
taxpayers bill of rights.  What Happened?

Special Interests Used taxpayer dollars to lobby the Legislature to get
more of our money!
