Education can transform our State's future, one individual at a time.  Education provides hope for
a better future for each individual student.

Corruption and abuse of public funding takes resources intended to go to the classroom and
to children, and erodes public confidence in the educational delivery system.

Moreover, corruption and abuse of public funds hurts learning and harms students directly.

A new book out this year
Battling Corruption in America's Public Schools (by Lydia Segal,
Northwestern University Press) points to specific instances of corruption in education and how
safeguards can be put in place which can help reduce waste and abuse.  We will be working to
put in place mechanisms which can help minimize the loss of education dollars to waste, fraud
and abuse.

It is clear we must change the status quo,
stop providing incentives for abuse and waste, and
give authority to teachers and principals what so many of them want and need to help children
and improve learning.
